Sales is often used to refer to sales of physical or digital items, however for our purposes Sales is any income for goods and services rendered. This is the total payment from a client for goods and services you rendered to them. For example, if you are a landscaping company and you provided a client with the installation of a decorative retaining wall; you charge for labor and the cost of the retaining wall itself. You probably provide your client with a line-item invoice that separates installation labor and material costs, you may even separate each aspect of the labor into things like grading, leveling, survey costs, permit costs etc and you may separate each part of the retaining wall's physical material into things like sand, retaining pins, drainage materials and the wall itself. You may even charge consultation fees. However, all these things together are your total sales. Any revenue your company generates per month should be listed as Sales
